David Glancy is the Founder and CEO of the San Francisco Wine School. He is one of only 140 in North America, and 220 in the world, to earn the title Master Sommelier (MS). He is one of only 12 MS in the world to also pass the Society of Wine Educators’ Certified Wine Educator exam (CWE).
He launched San Francisco Wine School in June 2011. The school provides professional wine studies including French Wine Scholar (FWS), Society of Wine Educators’ Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) on the ground and online , Italian Wine Central’s Italian Wine Professional (IWP) their own trademarked California Wine Appellation Specialist (CWAS) on the ground, online and as a 3-day intensive, Somm Essentials, Advanced Tasting Program, Advanced Service Program, corporate training and edu-tainment events. Glancy is also on the board of directors for the Society of Wine Educators and is Echanson Provincial PNW for the Chaine des Rotissuers. Previously, he created, managed and taught the Certified Sommelier Program at the Professional Culinary Institute. During that time, he secured the partnership with the Court of Master Sommeliers and helped over 400 students pass the Court of MS’ Certified Sommelier exam (CS).
Glancy also taught wine and business management at Le Cordon Bleu’s California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. He has worked in the industry for over 20 years, working throughout the U.S. and in Asia and has traveled to many of the wine regions of the world. His first love was a glass of Vouvray, soon followed by another glass. Today he could happily live on Champagne alone.
