Born and raised in Wisconsin, Devan never imagined she would fall into the world of wine. Devan moved south to attend Georgia State University where she studied sociology and psychology. While in school Devan worked as a barista in Atlanta and acquired a strong appreciation for crafting beverages that can have positive effects on a person’s day. Upon landing at Cakes & Ale as a barista, Devan was introduced to the world of wine under Beverage Director Jordan Smelt. She worked her way up to Café Manager and sought mentorship and guidance to assist in building the beverage program in the café.
Currently Devan is serving as the Restaurant Manager at City Winery Atlanta. Here she is able to expand her knowledge of wine by being a part of an urban winery and mentoring under the Beverage Director. She has acquired her CMS Level 1 and is planning to take her Certified exam early next year. Devan looks forward to making her mark on the hospitality industry as she continues her development.
