Matthew Semancik attended the University of California at San Diego where he studied Molecular Biology, Russian language, Soviet political theory and Photography while working in a lab involved in the Human Genome project and Music Director of KSDT, the universities radio station. After graduating with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and Genetics, Matthew moved to Los Angeles where he started a career in promotions and marketing in the Music Industry working for Rick Rubin’s American Recordings label. He then went on to found his own music marketing and promotions company which he ran for 7 years.

After leaving the music industry, Matthew attended the Le Cordon Bleu culinary school where he graduated top of his class and went on to work at top fine dining restaurants in Los Angeles such as Bastide with Chef Ludo Lefebvre before moving to Biarritz, FR where he continued to cook at Sissinou. Having grown up in Europe and being surrounded by the wine industry, Matthew turned his culinary pursuits back to wine and the wine industry and managed Mission Wines in South Pasadena working with Chris Meeske, MS candidate and respected industry veteran of Charlie Trotter’s and Patina.

Matthew was hired in 2014 by Kobrand as the District Manager of Orange County and is now currently the Western US French Portfolio Specialist for Kobrand and Brand Ambassador for Taittinger, Louis Jadot, and Zind Humbrecht. He is also certified WEST Level 3.
