Miriam Puentes was born in Mexico City in 1978. Her parents immigrated to Bakersfield, California when Miriam was two years old. Both worked out in the fields traveling from northern to southern of California following the growing seasons and jobs in agriculture. In 1988, her father landed a job working for Chuck Wagner at Caymus Vineyards. Then, the family settled in St. Helena California.
Miriam is the first generation in her family who achieved higher education. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management in 2005. After graduating she went to work for a couple of wineries in the Napa Valley in the Human Resource and Accounting departments. In 2011, Miriam and her husband, Juan Jose Puentes, released their first wine vintage, 500 cases of Honrama Cellars Cabernet 2008. The wine is named in the honor of Miriam’s father, Honorio Ramirez Mata who passed away before seeing this dream come true.
