Rachel received her B.S. in Biology from UCSD, in which she started her career as a scientist. She was then fortunate enough to find a job as a research associate at a company called Vinmetrica. At the same time, the company was starting an urban winery called Little Oaks Winery in Carlsbad. Rachel's first harvest was a few months after she started and she was eager to jump right in and learn something new. Little did she know that it would spark and interest that would change her career path.
With that first harvest, Rachel has never felt so fulfilled and satisfied with her work. Since then, she has taken classes through SDSU Business of Wine program, completed the WSET level three course, hosted wine tastings, and have made many award winning wines. When she opens a bottle of wine from that first vintage, she is filled with overwhelming pride showing how far she has come in such a short time. It's only after looking back at this hard work and great learning, that she realized there was much more to wine than she had ever imagined and know nows that this is her career path and life's plan.
