Tami grew up in her family’s restaurants and despite briefly pursuing broadcasting while majoring in Communication at San Diego State, she is happiest on the floor of a dining room. The wine bug bit while serving at the 3rd Corner Ocean Beach and she passed the Certified level through the Court of Master Sommeliers in December 2007 while seven months pregnant. She served as the Wine Buyer and manager at the 3rd Corner in Encinitas for 2 years, then became the Wine Director and F&B Supervisor at the iconic La Valencia Hotel. After a year at La V, Juniper and Ivy beckoned where she holds the title of Manager/Sommelier. Tami’s thoughtful list carefully curated from all corners of the globe has culminated in recognition by Wine & Spirits Magazine as the first San Diegan to be chosen as one of the six Best New Sommeliers of 2014.
Tami is a regular on the wine judge circuit. Her first competition was the 2012 Mainly Meritage and has since judged Sommelier Challenge, the San Diego International Wine Competition, and the San Diego County Fair. She tastes on The California Grapevine panel which publishes its results in a monthly newsletter. She is an original member of the San Diego Women’s Wine Alliance which provides educational, mentorship and networking opportunities for women in the wine industry of San Diego. A member of several tasting groups, Tami plans to take the Advanced test through the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2016.
