Seminar Description

The earliest evidence we have suggests that wine initially was fermented in clay vessels, known in Georgia as “qvevri.” This seminar will explore the evolution of qvevri wines and their recent renaissance. We will also examine different traditions of qvevri wine production, and compare how the qvevri influences the wines made from vines endemic to the Caucasus.
