The Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards Program debuted in 1981 as a way to honor restaurants with extraordinary wine lists. The program has grown steadily since then, and now consists of three levels: the Award of Excellence, the more selective Best of Award of Excellence and our highest honor, the Grand Award. Today, the program encompasses more than 3,500 award-winning lists hailing from more than 70 countries and all 50 states. Wine Spectator's Gillian Sciaretta will discuss the program's criteria, impact on restaurant wine programs, and influence with diners passionate about wine.
