This session will focus on Moscato d’Asti and challenge the perception that Moscato d’Asti is solely a dessert wine. The initial tasting will feature six high-quality Moscato d’Asti wines from Piemonte in northwest Italy, which many consider to be the true home of the Moscato Bianco grape. They will be evaluated for their purity of aromas and flavors and the balance between the two key structural elements—sweetness and acidity. Participants will then have the opportunity to pair the wines with both sweet (the typical) and savory (atypical) small bites to find the match they like best. Attendees will come away with creative ways to work these delicious wines into beverage menus as well as new ideas on how to demonstrate the food affinities and versatility of Moscato d’Asti to their customers.
