Founder of Eden Specialty Ciders

Eleanor Léger is the Founder of Eden Specialty Ciders in Newport, Vermont. She is the author of “Guide to Producing Vermont Ice Cider” and “Cidernomics: Life in the Underdog Economy” (cidernomics.com).

Eleanor began producing ice cider in the basement of her Vermont farmhouse in 2007 and is recognized as one of the world’s leading producers of this specialty dessert cider. Her ice ciders and sparkling ciders have been seen in Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Food & Wine, JancisRobinson.com, Imbibe, Eater, CBS Morning News. Eden has won numerous bests in class and gold medal awards, including the Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition, Dan Berger, San Francisco Wine Chronicle competition, Good Food Awards, Los Angeles International Wine Competition, and International Wine & Spirits Competition. Eleanor also produces specialty aperitifs in collaboration with Deirdre Heekin of La Garagista under the brand ‘Orleans’. She is the President of the Board of the American Cider Association, and a Co-Founder of the Vermont Cider Makers Association.
