Poppie Mphuthing is a Wine Curator at Heitz Cellar in Napa Valley. She is a recent entrant to the wine industry having been an enthusiast for the last 20 years. Her love affair with wine began when she relocated with her family from London, England to Cape Town, South Africa in her late teens. Following a long and storied career in tech and journalism, Poppie decided to take a leap of faith and make a professional pivot into the wine industry earlier this year, and has held roles at Francis Ford Coppola Winery’s tasting room in Sonoma, as well as Wine Enthusiast as a tasting coordinator. She feels privileged to have been recently onboarded as a Wine Curator at the renowned and historic Napa Winery, Heitz Cellar. Poppie is currently studying to obtain her WSET Level 2 with the Napa Valley Wine Academy, having achieved Level 1 in April 2023.
