Shaun’s passion for wine started while in culinary school over 23 years ago as his college education. He worked with multiple Sommeliers at the Phoenician Resort and quickly changed paths to the front of the house engaging with guests and learning as much as he could about wine. While studying wine over the next few years, he passed his Intro and Certified levels through the court in 2006. While continuing to learn as much as he could about wine and spirits, he took the CSW and CSS in 2010 and 2011. He then took his career a step further at the Scottsdale Four Seasons where he ran the wine program for almost a decade. He focused his efforts on incorporating wine regions that were not yet popular and encouraging guests to try alternatives in place of their usual go to selections. This helped to grow repeat diners to over 45% of the business in the Resort restaurant, Talavera. Through travels to Portugal, Spain, Italy, Australia and France, Shaun quickly learned how beneficial being in the vineyard can be and became even more dedicated to sharing the world of wine.

For the last 5 years Shaun has been the Director of Food & Beverage at one of the most exclusive private clubs, Scottsdale National Golf Club in Scottsdale Arizona. It is here, where he has been able to curate a list of the best wines he can get his hands on, including assisting small wineries in Napa to get their wines into Arizona. This has given Members, who travel and eat out around the world, a place to try wines they do not see on almost any list. They now have over 700 selections, with it continuing to grow and change based on Shaun’s knowledge of the membership and their palates.
